    What is a Chiropodist?

A Chiropodist is a regulated health care provider and foot specialist that studies, assesses and treats disorders and conditions of the foot, ankle and lower leg. A Chiropodist provides medical services ranging from nail and skin care to orthotics and in-office surgeries.

What is the difference between a Chiropodist and Podiatrist?

The difference is where they were trained and educated. Practitioners in the United States or who came to Ontario before 1993 are referred to as Podiatrist. Practitioners who came to Ontario after 1993 or are educated in Ontario are referred to as Chiropodist.

    Do I need a Doctor’s referral?

No, a doctor’s referral is not required to make an appointment. A chiropodist is your first stop for foot care.

Are Chiropody services covered by O.H.I.P.?

Our services are not covered by O.H.I.P. However, most insurance companies cover Chiropody services and products (custom orthotics and custom footwear).

What can I expect at my initial visit with a Chiropodist?

We want to give you the very best care. That being said, your Chiropodist will review your medical history, conduct a full medical assessment and get to know you to determine the most effective treatment for you and your body.

    Will my treatment hurt?

Our goal is to make your treatment as painless as possible. We’ll go over the procedures and options available to ensure your comfortable.

What is the difference between custom molded orthotics and store bought inserts?

True foot orthotics are prescription devices made from a 3D volumetric cast impression. They require an evaluation of your particular concerns, foot type, gait, activity level, occupation, and footwear. Store bought inserts don’t offer the same high level of customizing. This results in temporary relief, unlike the long term benefits of a made for you custom molded orthotics.
